Made with Paper
Made with Paper
In the past it was so hard…. months of work.
But now…just a click away
Iam very happy with my iPad2, but after seeing the new iPad …
So now Iam also a proud owner of the new iPad , the screen is “better”
Even if you dont need reading glasses the text on the new display is sharp!!
and more relaxed to read.
But what about the color gamut??
I can see the difference in pictures on both display’s, the new iPad shows more
saturated colors.
So I tried to calibrate my iPad2 and the new iPad just to see…
Ive used DisplayPad on the ipads and on my MBP together with Xrite i1Profiler
and a i1 spectrophotometer.
Measured both the displays with the brightness around 70% and in the software all
the settings on Native.
In the results it will show that the new iPad sure has a bigger gamut!
The white point on the new iPad is lower than 6500K and the iPad2 shows
a bit higher amount but it could change if the brightness is set higher.
I used Photoshop to see the differences on a lot of pictures and the big difference is in
the reds - Magenta and in the blue areas.
There is some shift from the new ipad icc profile compared to sRGB but its close!
The ipad2 has for sure a smaller gamut.
The problem with the iPads is that they dont support ICC profiles yet (Maybe ios6)
Many photographers want to use there ipads for remote viewing (for customers at a shoot) and more and more for approving PDF’s.
For now it means that you have to convert them in PS to the device ICC and not using iTunes to sync your photos but to upload them and view them directly from the internet
or use something as dropbox.
But with the new iPad screen gamut closer to sRGB viewing the web should be more natural because everything published on the WWW should be in sRGB.
Yes, an R2D2 from lego…, available around May for 170 euro’s .
For sure I want one :-)
